DAY 1

Welcome to Porto! We kick off our adventure with a delightful welcome gathering featuring refreshing drinks and light bites, all just steps from our hotel. We’ll then venture out for an unforgettable dinner at a top local restaurant.

DAY 2

Today, we’ll embark on a captivating electric car tour through the hilly streets of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, the area renowned for its historic port houses. Afterwards, we'll take a fascinating walking tour of this less touristed side of the river, and do a deep dive into the food, wine, and cultural history of Northern Portugal.

For the rest of the day, relish some free time to soak in the local atmosphere of Gaia.

DAY 3

Today is yours to explore the charming streets of Porto at your own pace. Immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant culture, discover hidden cafes, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll through its picturesque neighborhoods.

DAY 4

Today you’ll experience the magic of the Douro Valley. We'll journey to the countryside in style with a private driver and visit a charming family-owned winery, savor a delicious lunch amidst stunning scenery, and enjoy a serene boat tour on the Douro River.

From there we'll head to the wine estate where we'll spend three relaxing nights. After settling into our elegant accommodations, we’ll come together for a farm-to-table dinner that celebrates the flavors of the valley.

DAY 5

Take the morning to unwind and savor the serene pace of the Douro Valley.

In the afternoon, we'll indulge in a private wine tasting session at the estate's stunning tasting room, where you’ll learn more the region’s renowned wines.

We’ll cap off the day with another exceptional dinner at the winery's renowned restaurant.

DAY 6

Enjoy a full day to explore the winery and its surroundings on your own. Traverse scenic walking trails, visit the Interpretive Center to deepen your knowledge of the Douro Valley, or visit the nearby town of Pinhão. Or, simply relax by the hotel’s infinity pool and take in the breathtaking views.

Tonight’s dinner is optional in the event you want to spend the day exploring the valley.

DAY 7

We’ll return to Porto and check back into the hotel, giving you the afternoon to explore any final corners of the city you’ve yet to discover, or to simply relax.

In the evening we'll head out to experience Fado, Portugal’s soulful musical tradition, in a beautiful and evocative setting.

And after that, we’ll enjoy our final dinner together in a cozy, local restaurant where you can savor delicious, authentic Portuguese cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

DAY 8

Check out from the hotel and continue your travels, whether heading home or venturing further into Portugal. Depart with cherished memories, new friendships, and a heart full of inspiration.

  • * 8 days/7 nights accommodations at a perfectly located boutique hotel in a shared room (day 1 and day 8 are your arrival and departure days, and not full days). Note: At Ventozelo, due to the nature of the room layout, each traveler will have their own room. If you'd like to instead share your room with a specific person, please let me know.

  • Prices listed are for double accommodation, with the exception of our time in the Douro Valley (due to the nature of the rooms at our Douro Valley hotel, each traveler will have their own room, unless otherwise requested).

    Sharing rooms allows us to stay at incredible hotels at a lower cost, and brings the overall price of the trip down for our travelers.

    If you’re a solo traveler, Roam and Gather will pair you with a roommate in order to prevent you from having to pay a single supplement charge. We will do our very best to pair you with a compatible roommate.

    Please note that European hotel rooms tend to be smaller than what you may be used to in the US. Make sure you’re comfortable with this before agreeing to share a room. If you request to change rooms after hotel arrangements are made, you will be responsible for any additional charges incurred.

  • A deposit of $750 is required to secure your slot.

    The remaining balance due will be charged in equal monthly payments, with the final payment due by May 10, 2025. A $50 fee will be charged for each late payment.

    You may also pay the balance in full at any time.

How To Join Us

If you’re interested in joining Roam & Gather’s trip to Portugal, just click the button below and you’ll be taken to the booking page where you’ll be prompted to pay a deposit. Slots for the trip will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis according to payment of the deposit and payment signifies your commitment to traveling with us.

Due to the small nature of the tour, and the fact that we have to book hotels, tours, and other activities in advance with our vendors, this deposit and all payments thereafter are non-refundable. We highly recommend purchasing “cancel for any reason” comprehensive travel insurance, as it is the only way to recoup your financial investment in the event that you're unexpectedly unable to join the trip. However, should the trip slots not fill enough for it to go, you’ll receive your deposit back in full. Please see our terms and conditions for more information.
